Gerard "Joe Jay" Martinez

Gerard "Joe Jay" Martinez of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024. Gerard was born in 1930, to Paul A Martinez and Elvira Roybal in Santa Fe, NM.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Cidelia Martinez; brother, Gerald Martinez of Berlin, CT; sister, Annette Perno of Albuquerque; children, Paul P. Martinez (LeAnne) of Atascadero, CA, Gerard "Punchy" Martinez and Anna Marie Martinez of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Patrick Martinez (Lyndsay), Alicia Wilson, Gregory Martinez (Alice), Michelle Alguire, Jessica Famiglietta, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jim O. Martinez, Romulo U. Martinez, Pablo Abilio Martinez, Renato Martinez, Paul J. Martinez, and stepmother. Corrine Camunez Martinez.

Rosary will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM. The burial will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Cancer Foundation in Albuquerque.
