Gerri McCallister

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Gerri McCallister, age 72, on December 17, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Surrounded by her family, Gerri left this world having touched countless lives with her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her husband, Lyman Atchley; her daughter Kellie Parker, Kellie's wife, Britany Parker; three adored grandchildren-Cooper, Cannon, and Capri Matijasevic; stepsons Dr. Derek Atchley, Cory Atchley, wife Marie Atchley; and three step-grandchildren who brought her joy-Sophia and Parker, children of Derek, and Jackson, son of Cory and Marie. She also leaves behind her brother, Ed Romero, her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Michael Vendzules.

Gerri's life was defined by love, resilience, and achievement. In high school, she balanced intellect and grace, earning respect as a debate team standout and love as Homecoming Queen. She became the first in her family to graduate college, inspiring her children to do the same. For over 40 years, she devoted herself to teaching kindergarten, nurturing young minds with patience and care. Gerri embraced life fully, her and Lyman loved to travel the world, sharing stories, and forming friendships everywhere. Her warmth and impact will be cherished forever.

Gerri held a special place in her heart for her former husband, Chris McCallister, and his family. Their bond of friendship and care endured throughout her life, a testament to her generous spirit and ability to keep love at the center of all relationships.

Gerri was preceded in death by her son, Christopher McCallister, and her parents, Eduardo (Pat) and Ernina Romero.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Albuquerque Country Club.
