Georgia Newlin

Georgia Iris Friend, 89, passed away on November 8, 2025. She was born in Saidora, Mason County, Illinois on June 16, 1936. She is preceded in death by her parents, George William Friend and Gladys Bernetta Lippert Friend, her brothers, Gary Friend and Glen Friend and her sister, Geraldine Friend Patterson. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Newlin of 65 years, children, Laurie Newlin Carlton (Robert), Curtis Newlin (Ashley), Teresa Newlin Mounyo (Gene) and grandchildren, Kilee Mounyo and Braden Mounyo. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, Gail Friend (Madonna), Gordon Friend (Phyllis), and Gregg Friend (Janet) of Illinois, Gloria Friend of Tennessee, and Gene Friend of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

After the marriage to Ronald Newlin in 1960, the bride and groom set out for Albuquerque, NM to begin their new life together. She began her working career later in 1960 in New Mexico with Public Service Company of New New Mexico. In 1967 she began work for the Public Services Company Credit Union until 1975. In 1976 she went to work with the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union until 1981. In 1981, she became the manager of the Albuquerque Operations (ALO) Credit Union on Sandia Air Force Base. She was there until ending her Credit Union career with retirement in 2001. 

She enjoyed many trips to their cabin in the Jemez Mountains. Ron and Georgia also made many trips in Illinois to visit family and friends. Georgia was plagued with Macular Degeneration for many years and was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Visitation will be held at FRENCH- University at 9:30 am on November 20, 2025.

Her Memorial Service will be held at FRENCH- University, at 10:00 am on November 20, 2025, followed by a Graveside Service at 11:30 am at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd, SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
