George Ira McLellan Jr.

George Ira McLellan Jr., born on August 7, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 86. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

George earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and finished his professional career at Sandia National Laboratories. His passion for life extended beyond his profession. In addition to raising a family of four children, he found joy in various hobbies, including golf, bowling, fishing, and camping. George's most notable achievement on the bowling lanes was his memorable perfect game, scoring a perfect 300.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Ovington, sons, Tim and Brian McLellan; his granddaughters, Aubrey Peña and Kristin McLellan; his grandsons, Tyler McLellan and Christopher McLellan; and three great-grandchildren. George's legacy of love and enthusiasm for life will forever remain in the hearts of his family.

A private family goodbye will take place on September 9, 2026, followed by a graveside service at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery on September 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM. where his ashes will be interred.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen McLellan, parents George McLellan Sr. and Johanna McLellan, and daughters Mary Jo and Maureen McLellan
