George Landon
Dingman Jr
June 25, 1943 – January 4, 2026
George L. Dingman, Jr. - Lanny- 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Outgoing and gregarious, he enjoyed interacting with others. He was a vociferous reader of everything from novels to shop manuals and information brochures. His interests, like his many friendships, were wide and varied, including cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, racing, astronomy and telescopes, photography, and electronics. Gadgets were his specialty, and he had a knack for fixing broken things. His life spanned a gamut of jobs and careers, and he excelled at all of them, including Lab Technician for the NM State Health Laboratory, auto repair mechanic, and race photographer at Sandia Speedway.
After achieving his BS degree in chemistry from UNM, he began his professional career with the City of Albuquerque Environmental Department. From there he made a career move to PNM. He worked on water quality and air quality related to the San Juan Generating Station. He was also a member of the PNM Speakers Bureau. During this time he completed his MS in Industrial Management from UNM's Anderson School of Business. He returned to the City of Albuquerque to work in the Air Quality Division of the Environmental Health Department, from which he retired.He was a huge sports fan, and he loved the UNM Lobos and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed deer hunting in the Gila, antelope hunting in Wyoming, and motorcycle road trips throughout the western United States. He loved to ski, especially the champagne powder of Utah's Wasatch Mountains- a passion he shared with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna; his son, Paul Dingman and wife, Maria Medina; grandchildren, Sophia Dingman and Roman Dingman; sister-in-law, Lisa Brown; and extended family, Evan and Melissa Wethington Sandoval and Cory Williams.
He is also survived by brother, Charles Dingman; sister, Amy Dingman; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Dingman; uncle and aunt, Walter and Dora Suhr.A private visitation will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 4pm, at FRENCH-Lomas. A Memorial Service will be held at Gate of Heaven- Christ the King Chapel, on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:30am, followed by interment. Monsignor Bennett Voorhies of Our Lady of The Annunciation Catholic Church presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.org), American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or the organization of your choosing.
