Frederic Fritz Blake passed away May 21, 2026. He was born in Mankato, Minnesota on May 19,1950 to Art and Zola Blake and was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda and recently her son, James. Fritz is survived by his wife and closest friend and partner of over 40 years, Melissa Behrens-Blake; and his nephew, James' family including a great-niece and two great-nephews. Prior to moving to Albuquerque in 1980, he grew up in Denver where he continued to be close to numerous childhood friends who have remained his family.
Fritz worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Project Manager for over thirty years prior to retiring where he especially enjoyed his work on local projects in the Bosque as well Tingley Beach, and his relationship with then Senator Pete Dominici. Fritz loved his job as well as the people he worked with. Fritz was truly one of a kind. Many people cherished his friendship and will miss his sometimes gruff affect, dry sense of humor, infectious laugh, generous heart, strong opinions, and love of life... and of the two beloved dogs in his life. He could not have been a better friend or husband.
