He spent the war-years with his mother's family in Cape Girardeau, MO.
His school days were lived in Kansas City where he was involved in many musical pursuits including his church choir. He played saxophone in professional dance bands, and clarinet in a Dixieland band. If you put any instrument in his hand, he could play it. He loved Scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Fred worked as a clerk in the Kansas City Police Dept, on the Ford assembly line, as a chemist at Chem-Agro and Procter and Gamble before tackling Dental School at University of Missouri at Kansas City. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1970. He looked West and began his forty-four years of dental practice in Albuquerque, NM. He was a safety and pistol instructor for the NRA and enjoyed Ham Radio communications.
He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in September 1980. He later served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America from 1986.
He married Mary Jo Cohen of Los Angeles, California in November 1980 and from that moment they were inseparable.
He enjoyed bicycling, skiing, swimming, bowling, ballroom dancing, motorcycle touring, and even hang-gliding in his youth. He enjoyed walking in his later years. He loved the sun and being outdoors.
Though a Traumatic Brain Injury slowed him down, he never lost his gentle and gracious manner. He was loved by all who knew him.
Fred passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2026 with his wife and daughters by his side.
