Franklin A. Warren

March 12, 1933 — July 5, 2020

Franklin A. Warren Sr., age 87, born in Portland, ME in 1933, to Franklin Warren and Carline Franzen. Raised by his grandparents, Simon and Ida Franzen until their deaths, he was only 12. Franklin was drafted to Korea in 1950 through the ROTC with the Maine National Guard. He was enlisted with the Coast Guard from 1951 until retirement in 1970 as Master Chief of Radio Communications. Franklin had many jobs such a teacher of electronics, salesman of electric test equipment, electric repair, musician, and a computer tech. He taught, mentored, and tested over 4,000 amateur radio people in New Mexico for almost 30 years. He started two ham radio clubs: High Desert Arc and El Malpais Arc. He was a member of the New Mexico Woodturners and made 300 to 500 toys for charity, for over 10 years. He is married and survived by his wife, Kennie L. Warren; stepsons, Kenneth Brickley and Jeffry Brickley (Peggy); son, Peter Warren; daughter, Michelle Vasil (Jim); son, Frank Warren Jr. (Shelia), eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death with daughter, Cathy Burton. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
