It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Everett Gurule, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His body went on July 11th, but his spirit began to slowly deteriorate after a stroke and dementia diagnosis. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, he lived most of his life in the same house he grew up in with his parents, Everett and Francis. He was an only child but grew up with lots of cousins.
He attended Albuquerque High after St. Mary's school closed. He had affection for St. Mary's because one of his many staple dad jokes was that he joined the Air Force because he still wanted to wear a uniform.
While stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, he met his wife, Loretta, because of a blind date set up. They married four months later and were together for nearly 51 years until his passing. Frank was a great father to daughter, Bianca, and son, Frank II.
Frank love sports from watching, coaching, and playing, He played basketball and racquetball until his ankles gave out, He helped coach basketball and baseball. He watched and cheered on the Los Angeles Rams, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Angels.
Frank is survived by his wife Loretta, daughter Bianca, son Frank and wife Jenny, grandchildren Alyssa and Ethan and many relatives and friends that will miss him tremendously.
A Rosary will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, 6:00 pm at French Westside Funeral Home, followed by a reception. Interment will take place on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 11:15 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please pay for masses for Frank. It will be greatly appreciated.
