Francisco Eloy Ulibarri, aka "Dapapa", 89 years old, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 23, 2024. He was a loving, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Francisco was born on May 28, 1935 in the small town of Colonias/Santa Rosa, New Mexico where he grew up. After graduating high school at Santa Rosa High, he joined the military with the United States Air Force and served in Germany and North Africa. After serving his time in the military he came back to Albuquerque joined the Albuquerque Fire Department on June 1, 1960, served 27 years and retired as a Lieutenant. During his early years of working with the Albuquerque Fire Department, he also attended the University of Albuquerque and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Business. Francisco married the love of his life, Viola May Sanchez, on January 25, 1964, and had three beautiful children, Steven, Kathryn (twins), and Angela. One of Francisco's favorite things to do was travel the world with his beloved Viola. They went on many cruises, trips to Spain, Europe, Hawaii and so many other places with family and friends.
Francisco enjoyed many things in life but a couple of his favorite things were to go to the casino and blast his favorite New Mexican music throughout the house. He enjoyed cooking his favorite foods, Green Chili Stew, and loved his weekly visits with his beautiful grandchildren, Lorenzo, Tiffany and grand-dog, Millie, which was required to be there as well.
Francisco is preceded in death by his wife, Viola May Ulibarri; his parents, Jose Federico Ulibarri and Modesta Olivas Ulibarri; brother, Jose Ulibarri, and wife, Patsy; brother, Ramon Ulibarri, and wife, Pat; sister, Isabel Ulibarri; sister, Mela Bonney, and husband, Eduardo; sister, Stella Martinez, and husband, Alcario; sister, Magdalena Romero, and husband, Pete; father-in-law, Raymond Sanchez; mother-in-law, Stella Sanchez; brother and sister-in-laws, Melcor and Stella Zamora, Ernest and Marcella Hoehne, and Raymond Sanchez.
Francisco is survived by his children, Steven, and wife, Misti Ulibarri; Kathy Ulibarri; Angela, and husband, Robert Chavez; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Lorenzo Chavez, Tiffany Chavez, Jessika, Mia, Asher, and Evangeline Ulibarri; grand-dog, Millie; and many beloved nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 10:00 am at FRENCH- Lomas.
