On October 13th, 2023, at the age of 87, our beautiful mother Frances L. Holmes (Pino), joined her father Antonio, mother Frances, sisters Marie and Viola, her great grandchild Jack James Riley, as well as additional family and friends in Heaven.
She will be deeply missed by her husband David Holmes, her brothers Tony Pino (Margaret), Gilbert Pino (Alicia), Herman Pino (Pita), her sister-in-law Diane Agha, children Therese Wing (Jim), Karen Candelaria (Pat), Sue Goheen (Rich), Steve Holmes (Shassidy), Mark Holmes (Verna), Frannie Holmes, Shari Holmes (Todd), Jeannine DiLorenzo (Chris), Joe Holmes (Karen), Loretta Garrett (Brian), Matt Holmes (Monica), her thirty grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family and friends.
Frances was a graduate of Loretto Academy in 1954, and went to flight attendant school in Kansas City, MO in 1955. She then went to work for the State Highway department in Santa Fe, NM, where she met and fell in love with her husband of nearly 64 years, David. Frances then became our mother, and Nana to our children, and we could not have been more blessed as she was a living example of God’s love; the most selfless, kind-hearted and caring person we will ever know.
Proverbs 31:25-31: Strength and honor are her clothing, she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her;
Frances was the president of the Legion of Mary at Fatima Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister, her devotion to Christ was awe-inspiring and she passed down her strong faith in God, her kindness and her passion for helping those in need to all of us. We will miss her smile, her laugh and sense of humor, her calming grace, her cooking (especially the desserts she invented all on her own), her strength and perseverance, our daily conversations and most of all the unconditional love she gave us all, every single day of our lives. We thank her and our father for all they have taught us, for supporting us, for lifting us up at our times of need and for always believing in us. We hope we have made them proud and continue to do so by carrying on their legacy of serving God, being kind and helping others.
Funeral services will be on Friday, October 27th and will begin with a Rosary at 10:30AM and Mass at 11AM at Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM and followed with a procession to the burial site at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
