Frances "Fran" Berglund

After a long life of grace and beauty our beloved mother, Fran Berglund, peacefully passed away at the age of 87 on August 29, 2025 in Las Cruces, New Mexico of natural causes. In her last few days she was surrounded by family and friends who love & adore her.

She was born in Mattoon, Illinois on July 2, 1938 to James and Helen McAchran and was one of 6 six siblings. At a young age her family moved to New Mexico and it was always a place she was proud to live in. It is also the place she found her husband, Dale Berglund, at a local Albuquerque church. This happy union produced 3 lovely daughters. They ran a successful commercial carpentry business together where Fran helped with payroll. They thoroughly enjoyed their business association with EAGA and NASFM and met many long lasting friendships.

Fran was a woman of warm hospitality and generosity. She dedicated her life to her family. In addition to being gracious and kind, Fran was known for having a flair for fashion. Those who knew her would tell you that she always looked classy whether she was attending a party or doting on her colorful garden. Even when times were tight in the beginning of her marriage, she sewed clothes for her girls, herself and Barbie dolls. She nurtured strong bonds with extended family members of many generations.

She especially lit up when taking trips, close or far. She loved being a Nana and spoiling grandchild & great-grandchildren. She looked forward to lunch dates, shopping sprees, and getting together with the Chatty Chicks. A couple years after Dale sadly passed away (2017), Fran met a kind and gentle man, Ken Howard. They spent countless hours listing to their mutual passion of music. Ken hosted a Music Hour and Fran was thrilled to be asked by Ken to help him with the presentation of music.

Fran was a believer in kind words, positive attitude, sincere prayer, service, generosity, uplifting and inspiring music and lots of hugs. Her sweet smile and fashionable appearance will be vivid in our minds.

Fran is survived by her daughters, Dalynn Berglund, Kathy Berglund (deceased 2019), Kristi Berglund (Andrew Martinez), brother Fred McAchran (Betty), grandchild Tori Loomis (James Loomis), great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, as well as many close friends.

Our thanks to Olga Ramirez who allowed Fran to continue to have choices and dignity in her last year. She is a remarkably, loving care-giver.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at French Funeral & Cremations at 7121 Wyoming Blvd., N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109.

Mom, we rejoice in knowing that you are now on The Greatest Adventure of All.
