Evelyn Griggs

Evelyn Griggs, 89, passed away February 28, 2017. She was a kind, giving and strong woman. Her faith was strong and her family was the center of her life. She was very creative and loved to sew. She also enjoyed reading and took pride in her many travels. Her and her husband traveled to 49 states and even visited Egypt. Hawaii was the only state they missed.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Donna Foster and Stephen Griggs; her grandchildren, Chena K. Parker-Okpone, Samuel Parker, III, Shannon K. Gordon, Stephen Griggs, Jr., Kristyn Townsend, Alaina Griggs and Tiffany Cadija Griggs Burns, and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews as well as her fellow members of the Church of Christ Riverside. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Hiawatha Griggs, and her two sons, Anthony Griggs and Donovan Griggs.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ Riverside, 3100 La Orilla Road NW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
