Ervin Ulibarri, born October 16, 1938, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of family, integrity, and kindness.

Ervin was born and raised in Raton, New Mexico, where he built the foundation of the values that guided him throughout his life. The son of a hardworking coal miner and a local grocery store owner, Ervin developed a strong work ethic at an early age-one that stayed with him in everything he did. He was also a faithful Catholic and proudly served as an altar boy in his youth, carrying his faith with quiet strength and devotion throughout his life.

During his years at Raton High School, Ervin was well known for his love of music, dancing, and football. He played running back on the Raton High School football team and was part of the historic team that brought home the school's last state championship. A talented musician as well, he played the saxophone and was a member of the high school band. On more than one occasion, he would proudly join the halftime band performance still wearing his football uniform - a memory that perfectly reflected his enthusiasm, school spirit, and love of music.

Ervin dedicated 42 years of his life to working as a truck driver, delivering merchandise to local businesses throughout the community. He was proud of the work he did and the relationships he built along the way. He retired from Bullocks in 2007 and was a longtime member of the Teamsters, reflecting his commitment to his profession and fellow workers.

Ervin never met a stranger. His warmth, easy smile, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome. He loved the outdoors and found joy in camping trips and fishing, especially when shared with family. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father whose love and steady presence anchored those closest to him.

Ervin is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sharon; his brother, Abe Ulibarri; his stepsons, Paul DiPaola and Steve DiPaola; his daughter, Valerie Avila; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Quentin Ulibarri.

Ervin will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where his ashes will be placed alongside his son, Quentin, reunited together in eternal peace.

He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his unwavering work ethic, and the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered. His life was a testament to dedication, humility, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
