Emma Chavez

Emma Chavez, age 97, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully in her home on October 7, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on April 15, 1928, in Estancia, NM, Emma lived a long and full life devoted to her faith, her loving family and her precious dog, Sparky.

Emma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pete Chavez; and her son-in-law, Anthony Mora. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children: Marlene Mora, Kathy Garcia and husband, Ralph, Beatrice Peralta, and Liz Genero and husband, Harry. She was a proud grandmother to Christell Tellez and husband Frankie, Crissy Haynes and husband Daniel, Phillip, Roxanne, and Stephen; and a cherished great-grandmother to Alexis, Jonathan, Emerald, Mia, Chloe, Aubrielle, and Bodhi.

Her life will be honored on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 with a visitation at 10:00 am, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 am and Mass and 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

Emma had a kind heart, a strong spirit, and a playful sense of humor. She found great joy in simple pleasures and being with her family. Deeply devoted to her faith, Emma was a steady and comforting presence for all who knew her.
