Elizario Garcia

Elizario Garcia Jr. passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Elizario was born October 5, 1932 in Pojoaque, NM to Elizario and Estefanita Garcia. He graduated from Pojoaque High School and served in the US Army. He worked with the NM Dept. of Corrections and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva Ortiz; and daughter, Robin; sisters, Susie and husband Secundino Quintana, Pita and husband Joe Sanchez, Laura Garcia and Norma Jean Garcia; brother, Guadalupe; nephews, Benito Garcia Jr and Joey Sanchez. He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Emilia Chavez; son, Robert T. Garcia; grandchildren, J.J. and Rosa Garcia; his brothers, Ray and wife Marvine, Robert and wife Lucy, Joe and wife Debbie, and Benito and wife Charlotte; sisters, Gloria Montoya and husband Joe (deceased), Flora Martinez and husband Ross, Anabelle Brazeal and husband Ron; and Dorothy Garcia. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Esteban Henao and the staff of the NM Heart Institute as well as the staff and caregivers at Kindred Hospital including Dr. Olivas, Dr. George and Dr. Allen, and the nurses and staff.

Rosary will be recited Wednesday, August 29, 2018, 9:00 a.m., and Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Reception is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #3, 3300 Calle Maria Luisa Santa Fe, NM 87507. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Long, James Flores, Ray Duran, Matt Candelaria, Henry Nunez and Bob Martinez.
