Elizabeth Sanchez

September 11, 1932 — October 7, 2023

Elizabeth (Beth) Guadalupe Ortiz Sanchez, born Sunday, September 11, 1932, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the age of 91 at Morningstar Northridge Memory Unit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Elizabeth was born in Santa Fe New Mexico and grew up with a close knitted and compassionate family. In her youth, Elizabeth could be found helping out her siblings and parents in and around the family-owned apartments, Chavez Place. Elizabeth stayed in Santa Fe until she met her husband, Eli (Satch) Sanchez, and followed and supported him while he was enlisted in the U.S Air Force. Elizabeth dedicated herself to her husband and three daughters, Rebecca, Monica, and Veronica (Roni), ensuring that she brought the girls home to Santa Fe when her husband was overseas to instill her love for family in her girls.

Elizabeth could often be found hosting large get-togethers for her children and grandchildren every Friday. She valued compassion, kindness, and close relationships to the point where everyone would know her name. Elizabeth went above and beyond for all holidays, birthdays, and events in which she could give to those she loved around her providing love and affection in all forms. Elizabeth's love was not limited to her family, but it also extended to her beloved pets and her spotty dog, Suzie. When visiting her, Elizabeth would tell stories of her pets, neighbors, and growing up over a cup of tea filled to the brim with milk that would overflow into the saucer.

Elizabeth was dedicated to her community and her church. Elizabeth never missed a church service at her local church, The Shrine of St. Bernadette, and could often be found in the congregation offering peace and acceptance to those around her and donating time and money to the church. Elizabeth not only gave peace to everyone she met, but she sought it out on a daily basis and found the good in the smallest things. On her daily walks, Elizabeth looked for beauty and serenity in the rocks on the ground, collecting them to take home and show others the treasures that she found.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Guadalupe Ortiz and Onofre Ortiz; as well and her husband, Eli (Satch) Sanchez. Elizabeth is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca (Becky) and husband Steven Harbour (deceased), Monica Black and husband John Black, and Veronica (Roni) Stager and husband Mark Stager; as well as her 8 grandchildren, Emily Hamilton and husband Sterling Hamilton, Elijah Black and wife Porcher Black, Sarah Baros and husband James Baros, David Stager, Michael Stager, Elizabeth Chapman and husband Graham Chapman, Hannah Stager, and Jessica Stager; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Ella, James Eli, Georgia, Max, and Rhea.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Morningstar Northridge Memory Unit for all of the support and kindness they provided. Elizabeth's Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at The Shrine of St. Bernadette with Services to follow at 10:00 a.m. and reception at the church afterwards.

Whootie-Hoo Mom, we love you.
