Elizabeth M. Malone, 72, of Albuquerque, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Rio Rancho, NM. On September 10, 1953, she was born to Ernest P. Malone, Jr., and Virginia Strike Malone in Roswell, New Mexico. After graduating from Artesia High School, Elizabeth received a B.S. in nursing from the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi, scholastic honor society, and the Sigma Theta Tau, nursing honor society. Later, she also received an M.A. in social psychology from Southern Methodist University.
Over the course of her career, Elizabeth worked as a hospital nurse, as head of cataloging in the University of New Mexico law library, as a nurse paralegal, and as a nurse case manager. She was married for about two years to Tom Perkins, but they had no children. She was a lifelong lover of animals, and caring for her dogs and cats was one of her greatest passions. She also suffered for many decades from multiple sclerosis.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas W. Malone and his wife, Joan Goldberg of Boston, Massachusetts; his son, Robert Malone of Columbus, Ohio; and his daughter, Laura Malone Wakeman, of Addison, Maine. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, 2:30 p.m., at FRENCH - University.
