Betty Jean Duran
Betty Jean Duran (Sprunger), age 89, peacefully passed away to be with God on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. She was born in El Paso, Texas and living all her life in Albuquerque, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Julian "Buzzy" Duran; her parents, Jack and Carmen Sprunger; brother, Edward Sprunger; and sister, Cora Mae Harris. She is survived by her sons, Greg (Jocelyn) Duran; Tim Duran; daughter, Julie (Rickey) Kitch; sister, Phyllis Harnetiaux; granddaughter, Caitlyn Duran; and grandsons, Steven Duran and Hollis Kitch. She also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews who were very near and dear to her heart.
Betty was a devoted stay-at-home mother, who loved to travel, enjoyed watching NBA basketball and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as she was a devoted follower of Jesus and enjoyed attending Bible studies and spending time in His Word. She enjoyed reading, watching old movies and had a love for music, attending an Elvis, a Wayne Newton and a couple of Neil Diamond concerts over the years. She was quick to make friends with her sweet disposition and lightheartedness. She was often funny without trying to be and kept loved ones laughing with her innocent sense of humor.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She was prayerful and a good and faithful servant, who has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, and we know we will see her again.
