Elaine Huddleston Henderson went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 1, 2026, in Corrales, New Mexico, at the age of 86. She passed from this world peacefully holding hands with her husband Glen Summers by her side.
Elaine was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two sons - William Wesley Monroe and wife Melissa, and Marshall McLaury Monroe and wife Patty; her three stepchildren - Ted Henderson and wife Dorothy, Darla Heldenbrand and husband Bob, and Don Henderson and wife Violet; her nine grandchildren - Jeremy, Ben, Mason and wife Sophia, Graham, Hannah, Jordan, Skylar, Brooke, and Levi; and her great-grandson - Oliver Perry Monroe. She was preceded in death by her dear sister
Angela Boyter, her first husband J.J. Monroe, her second husband William N. Henderson, and her grandson Spencer Salomon Monroe.
Elaine was born to William and Ruth (McLaury) Huddleston and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After attending college in Oklahoma as a member of the Delta Gamma sorority (go Sooners), Elaine nurtured her family and was a loving friend to so many in the Albuquerque area, where she lived and built a home for over 65 years. She loved her family history and "roots," attending family reunions and staying in close contact with her cousins. Among those closest to her were Martha Fitch, Laura Vance, and Susie Manhoff. In hobbies she was an avid carpenter, working in her mini wood shop, and she adored playing tennis and golfing with friends under the gorgeous New Mexico blue sky. She and her second husband, Bill Henderson, served as Christian premarital and marriage counselors at their church for many years. They also built a remarkable online pattern glass antiques business. They traveled the country hunting for deals and met so many wonderful friends through this business.
We will forever picture her tap dancing in heaven and singing all the hymns she loved so much - with "Blessed Assurance" chief among them.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Trinity at the Marketplace Church in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Trinity at the Marketplace Church in Albuquerque.
