Edward Grundmeier passed peacefully at home on June 1st, 2026. At his bedside was the

love of his life, Mary Ann Brewington, and his faithful cat, Mille. He is preceded in death by

his parents, Lester and Mary Wilson Grundmeier, and his brother-in-law Arlo Velie, whom

he loved like a brother.

Born on January 11, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ed was welcomed home by his older

siblings, John and Colleen. He was raised in Iowa and graduated from Independence

High School in 1964. He loved his high school years and the friends he made there. Some

of these good friends he kept up with until the end of his life, meeting with them by Zoom

once a month.

He was proud of his letter jacket that he earned playing football, and he remained athletic

through his adult years. Ed loved running. He ran both marathons and half marathons in his

younger days and for most of his life, Ed ran or walked daily.

Best of all, Ed was a man who knew how to have fun! He loved golf and fishing, especially

fly-fishing in New Mexico and deep-sea fishing in Mexico. He also loved a spontaneous getaway

to Las Vegas. One of his many accomplishments in life was to be kicked out of a

casino for winning too often while counting cards playing blackjack. He was also a great

connoisseurof ice cream; a passion he pursued his entire life.

Ed was easy-going, a wonderful listener, and had a unique sense of humorthat always

made him a delight to be around. These qualities allowed him to excel as a realtor, a job in

which he thrived because he enjoyed the company of people so much.

These wonderful characteristics were very attractive to Mary Ann, whom he met for coffee

one afternoon in Old Town Albuquerque in 1987. This date was the first of many, leading to

a happy life together for 39 years. Mary Ann and "Eddy Bear" as she called him enjoyed

walks along the Arroyo, laughing together, adventuring in Mexico, and the company of quite

a few cats. Those who knew Ed and Mary Ann found them to be two peas in a pod with a

love that was joyful and infectious and fun.

Besides Mary Ann, Ed is survived by his brother and sister in Colorado and their families, as

well as by Mary Ann's extended tam ily. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your

local food bank. Food banks were Ed's favorite charities. Also, to honor Ed's memory,

please enjoy an extra-large bowl of ice cream.
