In Loving Memory of Edna Gusdorf Carmichael

Edna Gusdorf Carmichael, age 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2025. She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Jim Carmichael; her son, David Martinez; her stepchildren, Carlton, Kevin, and Kathy Carmichael; her sister, Corrine Mondragon; her brother, Ted Gusdorf; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Gusdorf and numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank C. Gusdorf and Mary Valerio Gusdorf; her brother, Luis Duran and sister-in-law, Emma Duran; her sister, Cordelia Sahd and brother-in-law, George Sahd; her brother, Lalo Edward Duran and sister-in-law, Louisa Duran; and her brother, Frank E. Gusdorf.

Edna was born at home in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, to Frank C. and Mary V. Gusdorf. She was the youngest daughter among seven siblings. In 1960, she moved to Albuquerque, where she attended Jones Business College. After earning an associate's degree in accounting, Edna began her professional journey in 1963 by working for the United States Government at the Department of Defense in an accounting role. In 1976, she transferred to the Department of the Interior, where she continued her service for 33 years.

A devout Catholic, Edna's faith was unwavering, and she maintained a true devotion to Our Lord throughout her life. She was especially dedicated to her son, David, caring for him with exceptional love and attention for most of his life. Edna was known for her sense of humor, fun-loving nature, and a spunky spirit that brought joy to everyone who knew her.

Edna met the love of her life, Jim Carmichael, in 1976. The couple married in January 1982 and shared nearly 44 years of marriage. Edna and Jim enjoyed camping trips with family and friends and owned several RVs over the years. She was always Adventurous, even when Jim bought a Harley Davidson, Edna decided to buy a Moped so she could ride along with him! She also had a passion for country and western music, loved line dancing, and frequently visited casinos with her siblings, particularly her sister Cordy, creating many cherished memories together. Edna will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Her warmth, humor, and spirited personality will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

A Rosary and Funeral Service in honor of Edna will be held at French Funeral Home, located at 7121 Wyoming Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Tuesday, January 20th.
