Edgar H. Turner will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. His memory lives in the hearts of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edgar H. Turner, born on June 16, 1927, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
Edgar was the son of Donald J. Turner and Laura B. Turner. He grew up in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and attended Las Vegas Robertson High School, from which he graduated.
Edgar served his country with pride in the Army. His service began in October of 1948 during World War II, and he later re-enlisted to serve during the Korean War.
In 1975, Edgar married Joan, the love of his life. Together, they shared a wonderful life until Joan's passing in 2015.
Known affectionately as Sonny to his family, he was a master electrician and was a proud member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for over 60 years, contributing his expertise to many major commercial buildings throughout New Mexico. He was also a master woodworker, crafting nearly all the furniture in his home, along with beautiful picture frames, yard art, and interior decorative pieces.
Edgar was preceded in death by sons, Robert and Randall. He is survived by son, Todd and wife, Bett; their children, Angie (Francisco Bolanos) and Marsi (Brian Carter) of Stephenville, Texas. Angie's beautiful daughter, Isabella, the only great-grandchild of Sonny's family; and a son, Michael Turner. Additional surviving family members are his brother, Dean and wife, Lynda of Bosque Farms; devoted nephew, Troy and his children, Bryce and Kaylee; nephews, Bryan, Karl, Loren and Jimmy; nieces, Sheryll and Rhonda Turner. For the past 3 years Sonny was very fortunate to have a compassionate caregiver, Dorey Blaylock, who, along with Troy spent many hours a week assuring he was well fed and cared for. The entire family is so grateful for the care and love shown to Sonny by these 2 individuals.
Services are pending for National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
