Earl Peterson of Rio Rancho, age 76, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017. He served eight years in the US Coast Guard. Earl was a journeyman electrician. In 1968 the family moved to Madagascar where he worked for Bendix Field Engineering on a NASA contract tracking satellites. He then relocated to Barstow, CA where he worked at Goldstone Space Communications Complex before moving to Orange, CA for several years. The family then moved to Los Alamos where he was proud to be a team member on the TOPAZ Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory for several years. In 2005, he retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory after 25 years. Earl loved researching the history of the Civil War in New Mexico and exploring various ghost towns in the State. He enjoyed showing his 1946 Willys Jeep and 1929 Model A Ford pickup and was a member of the Poco Quatros Ford Model A Club. He is survived by his wife, Danisha, of 56 years; children, Devin Robinson and husband, Rollin, Diana Chance and boyfriend, Bobby Hamilton, and Brian Peterson and wife, Sheri; and five grandchildren, Cody Chance, Nathen Peterson, Savannah Peterson, Audrey Cohen, and Abby Cohen. He is also survived by his brothers, Keith and Randy Peterson, and sisters, Margo Fieselman and Faith Guyker and husband, Robert. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Lomas. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of your choice.
