Dorothy Mae Finch, age 77, a beloved member of the Beal and Finch families and a long-time resident of Albuquerque's South Valley, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 29, 2025, following a brief illness. Dorothy was born on February 14, 1948, in Albuquerque, NM to Edgar R and Edna L Beal. She graduated with honors from Albuquerque High School in 1966. A flat tire and a chance road-side meeting would bring "Dickey" into her life. They married on June 9, 1966, and had two children, Shelly and Jeff. Dorothy devoted her life to her family, supporting her husband and raising their children, while relocating to California, Texas, Wyoming and finally ending up back in New Mexico. Once back in New Mexico, Dorothy opened D & S Country Market in the South Valley which Dorothy and Shelly successfully ran for many years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with close friends and family, traveling, trail riding, participating in team penning, camping, bowling, dancing, and enjoying Sunday breakfast with her sister Susie and niece Jodie. She never met a stranger, had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Edgar Beal, brothers John Beal, and Edgar D Beal, husband Richard "Dickey" Finch and daughter, Shelly Wenk. She is survived by her sister Susie Cherryholmes, son Jeff Finch and wife Cecilia, son-in-law Johnny Wenk, six grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at French-Westside Chapel, with a reception to follow at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the ASPCA.
