Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.
Born one of eleven children in Kansas City, Kansas, Dorothy enjoyed participating in sports like basketball and softball while growing up. She even met her husband Marvin at the roller-skating rink.
She worked several jobs in her life, including switchboard operator, ticket girl and concession stand attendant at the movie theater, and as a secretary.
Dorothy moved with Marvin to Albuquerque in the fall of 1959 and never moved away. She fell in love with the blue skies, the mountains and the dry climate.
She bought a failing daycare in Albuquerque in 1969 and built it up to a flourishing business.
Later, she was secretary and bookkeeper for Marvin's roofing business.
She was a very devout Roman Catholic, and was always active in the church, beginning with the Ladies Altar Society, and later became a lector and a Eucharistic minister and assisted in the weekly collections accounting.
Dorothy was involved in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and performed a few terms as president for her chapter. She enjoyed hosting events in her home and was always up for performing skits, making crafts, and decorating items for the holidays. She was a member of the sorority bowling league for many years.
She also volunteered her time and energy at the St. Vincent de Paul donation center, and as a "Pink Lady" at St. Joseph hospital.
She managed to do all this while raising her own four children, and often nieces, nephews, and many others who needed a place to call home.
Dorothy was preceded in death by Marvin J. Doyle, her loving husband of 57 years, granddaughter Catherine C. Ortiz, and grandson Byron and wife Taneesha Killion.
She is survived by her children James Doyle and wife Teresa, Victoria Shirkey and husband Paul, David Doyle and wife Renee, and Martha Luhrs and husband Christopher. Her grandchildren are Stephanie Garcia, Daniel Hillerman, Candyce Skouras and husband Nick, Michael Doyle, Paula Killion and Bernaby Martinez, Adele Bonnewell, Steven Shirkey and spouse Emmy, and Rylee Clark.
Her great grandchildren are Jasmine Jorgensen, Kristen Craig, Alexia Garcia, Kenneth Holiday, Jordan Holiday, Maximus Killion-Martinez, Madelyn Killion- Martinez, Jonathan Alexander, Cassandra Heichelbech, Lauren Glynn, Christyal Nesselroad, Conner Bonnewell, Acheron Nesselroad, Emil Wiig-Shirkey, Wayno Wiig-Shirkey.
She also has many nieces and nephews who will miss her very much.
She was loved by many. Her joy and kindness filled many hearts. She will be sorely missed.
