Doris Marie Swiney

Doris Marie Swiney, age 87, of Bernalillo, New Mexico, passed away on September 27, 2026. Born on April 30, 1939, in Bristol, Virginia, Doris will be remembered for her keen intellect, sharp wit, and steadfast Christian faith.

Doris worked at Sandia National Laboratories. An avid reader, she enjoyed the challenge of complex puzzles and the companionship of friends gathered for games. She loved her friends and her pets, including her beloved Tibetan Spaniel, Connor. Her devotion to her faith also found expression in volunteer work with Pioneer Bible Translators and more.

Her familiar saying, "It is what it is," remains a fond reminder of her straightforward outlook on life.

Doris is survived by her nieces, Cindy Rodda (Bill Rodda) and Alyssa Janney (Sharon Horton); four great-nephews; one great-niece; six great-great-nieces and nephews; and her cherished Tibetan Spaniel Connor. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ogal Cooper Swiney; her father, James Paul Swiney; her brother, James M. Swiney; and her sister-in-law, Charliece Sublett Swiney.

Her family and friends will remember her with love-for her wit, her faith, and the many moments they shared.
