Doris Jean Bofman, known affectionately as Jean or "Grannie," passed away peacefully in Goodyear, Arizona, on July 20, 2026, at 10:22 PM. She was Eighty-Eight years old.
Born and raised in the scenic town of Del Norte, Colorado, Jean's life was defined by her devout faith and pure devotion to family, and she was known as an outgoing, vibrant woman. On June 10, 1956, she married the love of her life, Gerald Jean Bofman. Together, they relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they built a beautiful life and raised their family.
Jean was a woman of many talents who took immense pride in her work. Throughout the years, she served her community as a telephone operator, a dedicated homemaker, and a courier for Medical Arts Imaging. She also spent many years in the food service industry at Grandy's, starting as a prep cook and earning a promotion to breakfast manager. Following her retirement, Jean fully embraced her love for adventure and spent her time traveling with her husband.
A devout Christian and a faithful member of the Church of Christ, Jean lived her life with a full, loving heart. She was a true social butterfly, famous for her friendly, charismatic personality. She never met a stranger, and her infectious warmth caused countless people to fall in love with her. When she wasn't spending time with loved ones of her canine companion, Muffin, Jean could be found passionately cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys or catching up on her favorite television shows, American Ninja Warrior and Heartland.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her four children: her sons, Terry Bofman and his wife, Rhonda, and Tim Bofman and his wife, Lori; and her daughters, Tammy Simmons and her husband, Jimmy, and Trina Deer and her husband, Bryan. She was the cherished "Grannie" to eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her two brothers, Royce Sartain and Wayne Sartain.
Jean was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Gerald Bofman; her parents, Willie and Doris Sartain; her brothers, Leonard Sartain, Robert Sartain, and Ronald Sartain; and her grandson, Justin Simmons.
