Doralea "Dollie" Lowery

Doralea "Dollie" Lowery passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and devotion to her family and community.

Born September 4, 1940, in Culver City, California, Dollie spent most of her life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was actively involved in her community for many years.

While attending college and pursuing a degree in psychology, Dollie met and married Eugene "Gene" Shiplet in Portales, New Mexico. They welcomed their first son, Russell "Russ" Shiplet, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and later their second son, Michael "Mike" Shiplet, in Albuquerque.

Dollie was active in the PTA, served as a Cub Scout den mother, and served on the Albuquerque Crime Stoppers and Catholic Charities Foundation Boards. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority and, in 1988, was selected as the Beta Sigma Phi Albuquerque Chapter Woman of the Year. Dollie also enjoyed a successful modeling career, participating in runway events, print advertisements, and television commercials through the Flair Modeling Agency.

In 1982, Dollie married Clyde "Allen" Lowery and became a proud mom to Patrick "Pat" Lowery and Elizabeth "Liz" Smith Lowery. Dollie and Allen built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and adventure. They loved to travel and could often be found riding their tandem bicycle along the trails of the Rio Grande and through Albuquerque's Bosque. Dollie carefully documented their travels in beautiful scrapbook albums, preserving the memories of the life they shared. Together, Dollie and Allen were devoted members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

Dollie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen, as well as other cherished members of her family. She is survived by her sons, Russ Shiplet (Aimmee), Mike Shiplet (Kathy), Pat Lowery, and daughter, Liz Smith Lowery; her eight grandchildren, Kristin, Jerremy, Chase, Casse', Kai, Austin, Reese, and Katie; eight great-grandchildren; and cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A celebration of Dollie's life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, the day after what would have been her 86th birthday, at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque. The memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception.
