Our beloved mother, Donna Aubrey, passed away on May 18, 2025. Donna was born in Eads, Colorado on January 17, 1933, to Ray and Dorothy Jackson. After living in Eads, Hugo, and Delta, Colorado, the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado when Donna was a Sophomore in High School. It was there she met the love of her life, Jimmie Aubrey.
During her High School years, mom was a trumpeter, twirler, pianist, and singer. Mom and Dad were married December 28, 1952, and lived in Greeley, Colorado while attending the University of Northern Colorado. Mom and Dad welcomed their three daughters, Melissa, Jill, and Tammy and later adopted their son Bobby in 1969. Mom was active in her church choirs, both in Albuquerque and later in Durango, and sang with the Durango Choral Society.
Mom was a homemaker and attended UNM to finish her degree in Education and taught Honors English and Psychology at Sandia High School and was nominated for "Distinguished Teacher" in 1984. She finished her career with APS as a Clinical Support Teacher. After retiring, Mom and Dad traveled for a year before building their dream home in Durango, Colorado, where mom taught English Composition at Pueblo Community College. Mom took up golf and fly fishing and spent many wonderful years with dad traveling the country in their travel trailer.
Mom was a woman of strong faith, a dedicated prayer warrior, a dear and loyal friend, a beloved wife to dad and a wonderful mom to her children and her many "adopted" kids. Mom loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Jackson, husband Jimmie Aubrey, sister Shirley Rega, son Robert Dean Aubrey, daughter-in-law Shari Aubrey, son-in-law David Johnson, and niece Kimberly Ann Rega.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Demas (Chris), Jill Aubrey (Kirk Anderson) and Tammy Johnson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lucas, Aaron, and David Aubrey, Croft and Aubrey Fite, Ty and Cara Johnson, and her great grandchildren Ethan, Ezra, Aaron and Evelyn Aubrey and Milo Fite.
We would like to thank the entire staff at Coronado Villa for the love and care she received, and her "sister at heart," Betty Reece.
Mom touched countless lives in countless ways, she was loved beyond measure.
