When he was 11 years old (1947), his family moved to Roy, New Mexico which is another farming and ranching community in northeastern New Mexico. Donald went to school, played sports, and worked in the local grocery and hardware stores. His free time was spent fishing, hunting, and exploring local canyons with friends. He worked several different jobs after graduating high school, got married to Julevieve Mae Moore, and went to tech school to learn broadcast television and radio repair. After graduating tech school, he worked for the local PBS station KNME as a broadcast engineer until he took a job at Sandia National Laboratories as a television engineer until he retired in 1999.
After retiring, Donald and Julevieve traveled in their fifth wheel trailer and took cruises. Their travels took them to Canada, the Bahamas, Alaska, Mexico several times, and numerous places across the US. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, hiking, and spending time with his family. He was also active in wildlife conservation groups and Boy Scouts where he had many adventures and made numerous friends. He was devoted to his family and will be missed tremendously.
