Dolores Jean Michutka

September 6, 1934 — April 14, 2026

Listen to Obituary

Dolores passed away gently, surrounded by her loving family on April 14, 2026. After 91 years of life her body said it was time to leave this world behind. She was love and smiles until the end. She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength and her unwavering love for her family. She was the proud mother of 4 children, 6 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many inherited grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the unconditional love that is the glue in our family. She delighted in our accomplishments no matter how small and was always a willing confidante.

Dolores made friends easily and enjoyed many days playing cards at the Bear Canyon Senior Center. She developed several close friendships there. She loved a family party, her jigsaw puzzles, mystery novels and collecting miniatures. She will be missed but remembered with a smile, a beautiful woman inside and out. Her memory will live on in our hearts.

Dolores was born in Paw Paw, Michigan to John and Mary (Ozanich) Sitar on Sept 6, 1934. She was married at a young age and subsequently divorced raising 4 young children on her own. Later she met one of the loves of her life and they were married in Dec of 1970 and moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1972 where they shared their lives until he passed in 1993. With her second great love of 23 years, Ruben 'Sal' Salaz, she enjoyed music, history and traveling the Southwest. His passing in 2022 was another hardship she endured with grace.

Dolores is survived by her children- Rodney J. Jeffries (Elizabeth), Diane M. Haney McCormack (James), Gregory J. Jeffries (Cindy) and Brian A. Jeffries (Dorothy).

Grandchildren- Nathan Jeffries (Morgan), Ross Haney (Lauré), Tessa Haney (Sterling Marie- great grand daughter), John Jeffries (Marie), Bridgette McBayer (Matt) and Brad Jeffries (Kaitlin).

Dolores was Mom, Grandma Dolo and Grand to her family. She loved all of us for who we are, even when we were annoying her with our antics or had lost our way. She was love that connected us all into a cohesive family. We are blessed that she created and enhanced our sibling bond and it will continue as her legacy.

We will always love you Mom!
