Delmira Botello was born in La Joya, NM on 29 November 1935 to Miguel and Emma Griego. She lived in Socoro, NM and after graduating from high school she attended Latin American Bible Institute in El Paso, TX. Upon graduation from LABI, she was wed to Johnnie Botello in Albuquerque, NM. Together they heeded the calling of the Ministry of the Gospel of Christ Jesus, serving for over 50 years in CO, NM, and TX. Most of Delmira's life was dedicated to the service of the church, service in public schools, and raising her sons and daughter. She was adventurous, loved a good laugh, a pioneer, a lover of God's creation and God's children, a matriarch, a strong woman of faith, a woman of prayer, and always a merciful, kind, and gracious lady.
Delmira Griego Botello passed on 7 March 2025 "at home, in peace, with family - just the way she wanted it." She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Botello; son, John Richard Botello; grandson, Isaac Samuel Botello; father, Miguel Griego; mother, Emma Baca Griego; brothers, Nefi Griego, Elfego Griego, Benjamin Griego, Elevi Griego, Aron Griego, and Salomon Griego; and sister, Filia Chacon.
Delmira is survived by children, Russ Montoya & Jackie Botello, Joel & Deborah Botello, Jarrell Botello, Joshua & Jennifer Botello, Jeremy & Christina Botello, and Raphael & Jocelyn Hernandez; 29 grandchildren; 18 ½ great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara DeCosta and husband, John; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Trinity Family Church, 6601 Paradise Blvd. NW. A service will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH – University. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
