David Ora Smallwood

David Ora Smallwood, born on January 20, 1939, in Newcastle, Wyoming, passed away on March 1, 2026. A devoted mechanical engineer, David dedicated much of his career to Sandia Labs, where his innovative spirit and tireless work ethic left a lasting impact.

He was a cherished father to his four children: Robin Seaman, Joel Smallwood, Kellie Bischoff, and Heather Smallwood, who will forever hold dear the memories of their father's love and guidance. David is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Laurie Smallwood, and his sons-in-law, Dale Seaman and Michael Bischoff. His legacy continues through his beloved grandson, TJ Seaman, and granddaughter, Samantha Seaman, who brought joy and pride to their grandfather's heart.

David's passions extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid tennis player, finding joy in the sport and its community. His love for history shaped his discussions and interests, enriching the lives of those around him. As a dedicated Boy Scout leader, he imparted lessons of courage, teamwork, and adventure to many young boys, always encouraging them to explore and learn.

Traveling with his wife, Camille and family, brought David immense joy; he reveled in discovering new places with his family, weaving stories of each journey into the fabric of their shared experiences. His passion for life, children, and family was palpable, and he treasured the moments spent with loved ones, creating laughter and lasting memories.

David Smallwood's life was a tapestry woven with love, purpose, and adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, a truly remarkable man whose spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
