David Albright

Dr. David Preston Albright (1947 - 2024) - Albuquerque, NM

Dr. David Albright, 77, beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather, was called to his eternal home on September 4, 2024. He entered this world in Bend, Oregon on August 25, 1947, born to William and Isabel Albright. David is survived by his wife, Kathleen Albright; daughters Lisa Albright (Steffan Berk) and Katrina Crandall (Drew); granddaughters Roxanne and Isabel; and many loving extended family and friends.

David graduated with a B.A. degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon; a Masters of Divinity from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville, Illinois; and a PhD in Church Administration from Claremont School of Theology in California.

Early in his career, David served as a pastor in the United Methodist Church, leading congregations in Illinois, Oregon, and New Mexico. He later served as founder and president of the Alliance for Transportation Research, a public-private partnership advancing technologies through research and development. Later in his career, he continued his innovative work at the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Department of Transportation. After retirement, he spent many happy years writing, reading, and caring for those in need.

David was a person of strength, integrity, kindness, and faith. He cared deeply about issues of social justice. He was known for actively seeking ways to help and support others, in ways both big and small. The hallmark of his life was loving his Lord Jesus, his wife Kathy, his family, and his friends fully and unconditionally.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, 12:15 p.m., at Grace United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo NW, Albuquerque, NM. A reception will follow. Donations can be made in his memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, or to Grace United Methodist Church via check mailed to the address above.
