Daniel Patrick Gillett, age 61, of Sandia Park, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 12, 2018.
He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years Kate; his sons, Matthew and Ryan; and his beloved dog, Snickers.
Dan is also survived by his sister, Carolyn McBane (Robert) of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Margy Scales (Stephen) of Las Cruses; brother, John Gillett (Elaine) of Albuquerque; and sister, Kathleen Esquibel Baca of Albuquerque.
He leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews: Judy Holt, Donna Erickson, Sue McGinnis, Marti Begley, Christy Rose, Steve Scales, Missy Giacomelli, Gretchen Lindsay, Beth Gillett, Tyler Gillett, Jennifer Esquibel Crow, and Ian Esquibel along with other extended family.
Dan will also be very missed by his wife’s family the Goldens; Ryan’s girlfriend, Alexys Aylward; and Matthew’s girlfriend, Kirin Santos.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ivan and June Gillett; and his daughter, Kelley.
Dan was born in Albuquerque and raised in Sandia Park. Having lived most of his adult life in Albuquerque, he and his family recently returned to live in the Gillett family home.
He was an avid Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
He graduated from Manzano High School and earned his BBA in Marketing at the University of New Mexico.
Dan was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, and being out in nature. He also worked hard to improve the family home and property where he grew up. His other interests included trains, US history, and beekeeping.
Dan was outgoing and personable which made him well suited for his job as a Moving Consultant for Albuquerque Moving and Storage. He took great pride in his work.
He was a loving husband and father who was always there for his wife and sons. The family went on many exciting travel adventures together, primarily in the southwest.
He always enjoyed a good pun and will be remembered for his excellent sense of humor.
Dan was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of a service, we will gather together to remember Dan on Tuesday, October 30th 2018 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 p.m. This gathering will be at FRENCH - Lomas in the Reception room.
