Daniel Nicholas Anaya, lovingly known to many as "Rocky," passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 64.
Born on September 8, 1961, Daniel grew up in Tajique, New Mexico, where he developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the mountains and the simple joys of rural life. The mountains remained close to his heart throughout his life, offering him peace, comfort, and a connection to his roots.
Daniel was a devoted family man who cherished the love and guidance of his grandparents and held his family close. He was known for his kind heart, strong spirit, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. A dedicated fan of the Rocky films, Daniel earned the nickname "Rocky" among family and friends, a reflection of his resilient nature and fighting spirit.
He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him.
Daniel is survived by his father, Silvester Anaya; his brother, Tom Anaya and Ann; his sister, Judy Grace Anaya and her husband, Lionel Gonzales; his sister, Darla Felix and her husband, Robert Felix; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Montoya Anaya; his maternal grandparents, Nicolas and Alta Gracia Montoya; and his paternal grandparents, Pablo and Jesusita Anaya.
Though Daniel's earthly journey has come to an end, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His strength, love of family, and appreciation for the beauty of New Mexico's mountains will never be forgotten.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Anaya, Gerald Gutierrez, Anthony Sanchez Jr., Joseph Alderete, Michael Anaya and Chris Garcia.
May he rest in eternal peace.
