Listen to Obituary

Cynthia (maiden name Montoya and married name Padilla) Cordova (aka, Cynthia Stevens) born March 10, 1962, age 64, died on October 01, 2026. She is survived by her loving children, Eli M. Padilla and Naomi L. Padilla. She is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and, also, many friends in town, the United States, and various countries. She loved to travel internationally and met many of her friends who stayed good friends with her throughout the rest her life.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving, oldest son, Joshua John Padilla (2024).

She was also preceded in death by both her parents, John J. Montoya (2010) and Dolores R. Montoya (2005); and her two brothers, Gary Steven Montoya (2014) and Lionel Montoya (2024). There have also been numerous cousins, uncles, aunts, and other relatives who passed away before Cynthia.

Cynthia graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1980 and went on to graduate from the Technical-Vocational Institute (T-VI) in 1981, the University of New Mexico (UNM) with a degree in Business Education, and the College of Santa Fe (with a degree in Business Administration). She was, also, halfway through her Masters in Business Administration (MBA), but she stopped in order to care for her dying parents and help with her younger brother, Gary. Then, later, she was diagnosed with her own medical issues and was forced to retire early via disability.

She worked for Sandia National Laboratories for over 16 years and had other roles before SNL, including Simon's Western Wear and re-named Simon's Uniforms. She also worked at Rio Grande Credit Union, an educational institution named T-VI, now known as Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), Aluminum Sales, Avon (during 3 of the 7+ years of marriage as a stay-at-home mom) and the University of New Mexico during part of her college student years at UNM.

She retired early due to two rare and genetic kidney diseases and was on dialysis for nine years before receiving a kidney transplant on March 16, 2020. She managed to keep her new kidney for 4 1/2 years before her death.

Per Cynthia’s request, cremation will take place and there will be no funeral or public services.
