Corie Shay Costa passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, after a brief and unexpected illness. She was 56.
A proud graduate of Highland High School (Class of 1987), Corie continued her education at the University of New Mexico, graduating with honors. She went on to build a successful 21-year career with Resource Lighting, where her dedication and spirit left a lasting impact.
Corie is survived by her mother, Patsy Maschewski and stepfather, Robert Maschewski; her father, Gary Patton, and his significant other, Sue Grantz; her brother, Dr. Matthew Patton and his wife, Amy Patton. Corie was a proud and loving aunt to Nathaniel Patton, Alexandra Patton, and Olivia Patton. She also leaves behind her stepsisters, Debra West and AmyJo Sedillo; stepbrother, Brian Dozhier; and Debra's daughters, Hailee and Tristan. Additional loved ones include her aunt, Gussie Gumm; and cousins, Todd Gumm, Leslie Brown and Leigh Ann Machura; uncle, Mike Larkey; and cousins, Clete Larkey and Chad Larkey.
Corie's life, though far too short, was rich in laughter, adventure, and hope. She traveled across many states and countries, always searching for more - her heart set on one day reaching Ireland. In her final days, with spirit unshaken, she raised her fists and spoke of "Valhalla" and "Viking" - a testament to her strength, her fire and her magic.
She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure. Her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, and the joy she brought into every space will remain in the hearts of her family and her many cherished friends.
