Connie Gutierrez, 75, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025.
Born in Oklahoma City, Connie was a beloved wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and friend - a woman whose warmth, grace, and creativity left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Connie was a devout Christian whose deep faith shaped every part of her life. She lived with humility, compassion, and an open heart, always guided by her belief in Christ. Her quiet strength and unwavering kindness were a reflection of that faith, and she touched countless lives with her gentleness and love.
She earned her nursing degree from Trinity Lutheran School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri, and worked as a registered nurse before opening and operating her own professional electrology clinic for more than 20 years.
Connie was a longtime supporter of Popejoy Hall and took great joy in bringing beauty into the world around her. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality, especially during the holidays, when she decorated with elegant creativity and heartfelt detail that made every gathering feel special.
A gifted and passionate artist, Connie painted in oils, crafted intricate Fabergé-style eggs, and played multiple instruments including the piano, harmonica, and Celtic harp. She adored animals of all kinds - particularly her dogs, goats, donkeys, and other farm companions - and cared for them with deep affection.
She once reflected, "I really did not pay as much attention to small beauties in the world till I met John and moved to New Mexico." Connie shared 52 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Dr. John Gutierrez, who remained the love of her life.
She is survived by her husband, John; her stepson Damon (Yvette); her grandchildren Samantha, Isaac, Ava, and Jonathan; her sister Peggy (MA); her sister-in-law Anne Tafoya (Norman); her brother-in-law Anthony Gutierrez (Claudia); many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Lois Lorentzen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Zoe Prucha, and her brother-in-law Rafael Gutierrez.
Connie will be remembered as a ray of sunshine - someone who never spoke ill of anyone, and who brought light, beauty, and faith into every space she entered. Her life was a testament to love, devotion, and quiet joy. She will be missed more than words can express.
