Mr. Clyde “Allen” Lowery, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend, artist, community member, and believer in Jesus Christ passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Austin Texas to Clyde Cecil and Hattie Lowery, Allen lived a life marked by kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved and his beloved church. Allen moved as a child from Texas to Roswell New Mexico and graduated from Roswell High School in 1963 and received a BA from University of New Mexico in 1967, majoring in the Fine Arts. He lived the rest of his life in Albuquerque, a community he loved.
Allen is survived by his spouse Dollie Lowery, son Patrick Lowery from Reno NV, daughter Elizabeth Smith from Seattle WA, sister Shirley Lesperance from Albuquerque, stepsons Russ and Michael Shiplet, two nieces Shauna McGuire and Diana Green, grandchildren Austin Lowery, Reese Lowery, Kristen Shiplet, Casse Shiplet, Kai Shiplet, and Chase Shiplet as well as many dear friends and extended family members.
Clyde was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and strong work ethic. He dedicated his life to his career as salesman, entrepreneur, and later as a prolific artist, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. His steadfast commitment to helping others was evident in every aspect of his life, whether volunteering to help his church, consoling grieving families at French Funerals, working with various New Mexico art communities, and lending a helping hand to friends and families in need.
A memorial service for Allen’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30th, at 11:00 am St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Pl NE, Albuquerque NM, 87106. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories, honoring a remarkable life well lived. There will be a reception onsite at the church after the memorial service and many of Allen’s artwork pieces will be on display.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allen’s memory St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (to support the St. Mark’s Sacred Arts Guild), reflecting his lifelong commitment to a profession he loved.
