Clifford, "Cliff", LeQuieu, 72 of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on November 27, 2025. An auspicious day for him to be called home to the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ, as Thanksgiving was one of his favorite holidays.
Cliff was born in Wasco, CA on December 4th, 1952, the son of Albert and Thora LeQuieu. Cliff graduated from Lost River High school, attended Judson Baptist College, and graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in Geography and minor in Geology.
Cliff met his wife at Judson Baptist College and married in 1978. They have two married daughters and one grandson.
Cliff retired from the city of Rio Rancho in 2018 where he served as a GIS lead Specialist.
Cliff was a friendly, humorous man who was always ready with a witticism and jovial attitude for those he met. His faith was an integral part of his life. He was a rigorous study of history, culture, and the Bible. He enjoyed classical, old country, and gospel music. He was known to sing in a joyous and beautiful baritone.
He was always tinkering on one thing or another in his yard. He enjoyed woodworking and often made canes for friends. With his mechanical skill, he kept a small fleet of lawnmowers and chainsaws running for use in mission work. Cliff's intellectual and artistic bent meant that he always had a project in the works.
Cliff was a member of Faith Church in Rio Rancho, NM. Were he helped establish the sound system of the church and led the sound team for many years. He helped with multiple mission trips to Mountain Top Camp in Montrose, CO. He was fondly remembered for his long white beard and, during Christmas Eve candlelight services, for delighting children as Father Christmas.
Remaining to cherish Cliff are his wife of 46 years, his two daughters, grandson, sister, and two brothers and their spouses. As well as many others who called him Uncle Cliff or Papa Bear.
He was proceeded in death by both his parents, and mother & father in-law, his grandparents, two of his brothers-in-law, and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held Saturday December 6th at 10:30am, at Faith Church Rio Rancho, NM 900 Southern Blvd. Rio Rancho, NM with a reception to follow.
