Claire James Smith

Claire James Smith, 99 years old, passed on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was born in Lotts Creek, IA on January 28, 1923. He was a WWII Veteran and after serving, resided in Waterloo, IA. He moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1956. His wife, LaVerne Evelyn Grapp Smith, passed in 2014 at the age of 87. They were married for 72 years. Together, they had three sons, Gary Smith (deceased), Alan Smith and wife, Carolyn, Rodney Smith and wife, Bonnie; and one daughter, Rebecca Peterson and husband, Stephan. They are survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Claire, known as Pete, loved his card games, especially cribbage and 500. He also loved the outdoors and playing badminton, ping pong and croquet. He will be dearly missed. Please consider making a memorial donation in his name to The Alzheimer's Association.
