Chieko Nagano Swabenbauer

Chieko Swabenbauer, 96 yrs old, a longtime resident of El Paso, TX, went to join the Lord on May 19, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Swabenbauer, a retired Army veteran, on December 11, 1973. Chieko is survived by her children, Allen Swabenbauer and his wife Monica of Albuquerque; Kim Martin and her husband George of El Paso; Kathy Glover and her husband Richard of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Rick; Austin; Cameron; Mateo; Evangelina; Robert; Robin; and Rhonda. 

Chieko was a phenomenal seamstress in El Paso for over 45 yrs with many, many loyal customers. She worked at Levi's, Farah, Union Fashion, and her most favorite location, Glass Apparel at Bassett Center. Whenever she would come to Albuquerque, and especially after retirement, she loved to visit and spend time at El Santuario de Chimayo, a Roman Catholic church in Chimayo, New Mexico, built in 1816. Those visits gave her spiritual peace and a sense of closeness to God. 

Interment will be at Ft Bliss National Cemetery on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00 am.
