Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Charmaine DeWerff, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2017 at the age of 80.
Charmaine is survived by her husband, Duane DeWerff; son, Douglas Coughenour and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Kimberly Schwartz and husband, William; brother, Stephen Kapash and wife, Elizabeth; step-daughters, Cheryl LaCounte and husband, Chris and Debra Williams and husband, Forrest. She is also survived by her grandson, Brendan LaCounte and wife, Meghan; and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Isaac and Benjamin LaCounte, who were the pride and joy of her life. Surviving also are her cousins, Richard Kapash, Lainey Laud, Christopher Fetzko, Ronald Fetzko, and John Fetzko.
Charmaine’s life was a life of service, and she dedicated herself to taking care of others. She was a Registered Nurse for 25 years working for a private physician, then finishing her nursing career at Sandia National Laboratories.
Charmaine loved her church, serving in any capacity in which she could.
Charmaine loved music, be it orchestral or vocal, and also live theater, particularly live musical theater. She served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera Association (ACLOA).
Her love for family members (be they human or four legged), her church and her friends, will always be fondly remembered.
Services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. In lieu of flowers, donations to Faith Lutheran Church Children of Faith School or the Faith Lutheran Military/Veterans Services at Faith Lutheran Church; or to the Best Friends Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741 are suggested.
