Charlotte Ruth
Moritomo
May 12, 1934 — September 2, 2026
Charlotte, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, surrounded by her six children. Born on May 12, 1934, in Fremont, Nebraska, Charlotte was the daughter of Delbert E. Jones and Opal
L. (Crowe) Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Moritomo, sister Dorothy Hansen, brother Clinton Jones, and grandson Carey Miller.
Charlotte's life was a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering faith. She married Jim on January 24, 1955, in Albuquerque. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them across the globe, thanks to Jim's service in the Air Force. These years were filled with adventure and discovery, setting the stage for a deeply rooted family life.
A proud alumna of Highland High School in Albuquerque, Charlotte pursued a year of college before dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family. Raising six children was no small feat, yet she embraced this calling with unmatched passion and grace.
Her children—Valerie (Don) Karwowski, Brenda (Rob) Harrell, Larry Moritomo, Susan (Bob) Donaldson, Diana (Jim) Coffman, and Delbert (Gemma) Moritomo—were the center of her universe, and her love extended to her 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was a devout Lutheran, living her faith through continuous service to others. She found joy and purpose in volunteering at Messiah Lutheran Church, the Salvation Army, the Food Bank, the Store House, and the Animal Humane Society. Her compassionate heart and dedication to helping those in need left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
In her later years, Charlotte discovered a deep love for reading and cherished the companionship of her pets. Known for her warm spirit and infectious sense of humor, she never met a stranger and treated all with respect and kindness.
Charlotte's life will be celebrated with a service on September 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at French Funeral located at 7131 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, with a reception to follow. For those who were unable to attend in person, please view the recorded service here.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlotte's memory may be made to the Salvation Army - National Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
Charlotte's legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved family members who have gone before her.
