Charles Edward "Ed" Whitworth, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away, united in spirit with his cherished wife, Dianne, whom he loved for 62 years. He followed her just over a year after her passing-a reflection of a love that endured beyond time.
Ed and Dianne's marriage was defined by love, humor, devotion, and unwavering sacrifice, a partnership grounded in deep commitment through every season of life.
Ed served his country with honor as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, dedicating over 40 years to military service. His career reflected discipline, leadership, and a deep sense of duty. A man of strong faith, Ed was devoted to his church and lived with compassion, humility, and purpose.
Above all, Ed will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. He was a steady presence, a source of wisdom, and a gifted storyteller who brought people together with humor, history, and heart.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne, and his son, Steven.
He is survived by his son, Keith; daughters-in-law, Jaree and Becky; grandson Cory; granddaughter Kayla and her husband Ben; and great-grandchildren, Brody and Kenna.
We were lucky enough to be touched by him and loved by him, and now we go forth and honor him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and devotion that will live on through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Memorial Service will be held at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 930am, with a reception to follow. Interment will occur at Santa Fe National Cemetery, following the reception, at 2pm.
