Charles "Charlie" Rudolph passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 4, 1941, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Charlie was the third of eight children.
He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1959 and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from New Mexico Highlands University in 1965 after graduation, Charlie moved to Washington, D.C.; to attend Howard University School of Law where he also served as a Capital policeman.
His experience in D.C combined with his passion for justice and government broadened his perspective and prepared him for a life devoted to serving his community and the people of New Mexico. At the age of 33, Charlie became the youngest elected New Mexico Corporation Commissioner, where he later served as Chairman, earning a reputation for thoughtful leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to public service.
While Charlie took great pride in his professional accomplishments, his greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather who cherished time with his children and grandchildren, celebrated their achievements, and supported them through the challenges of life.
In his spare time, Charlie loved to share stories of his childhood, bake, paint, tell a good joke, take a ride around the town, and enjoy the outdoors and play with his grand dog Zoey. He also has a passion for building custom homes in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, in which he won awards.
A faithful Catholic throughout his life, Charlie's faith was the cornerstone of his character. He lived his beliefs through humility, generosity, kindness, and shared these values with his family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucy Rudolph; his siblings, Agnes Garcia; Trancy, and Bobby Rudolph.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Rudolph, and grandsons Devin and Justin Bermudez, his son, Charles (Chuck) and wife, Lisa of San Diego. He is also survived by his siblings, Juliette Gallegos, Doie Maes, Patricia Dabbs, Billy Rudolph, many nieces and nephews and extended family.
We would like to give special thanks to his companion caregiver Karla Hernandez who became like family to him.
A viewing will take place Thursday June 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming.
A rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated Friday June 19, 2026; 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Reception to follow.
May Charles Rudolph rest in eternal peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.
