Charles H. Hausenfleck
Colonel Charles H. Hausenfleck made his last flight and went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2024, at the age of 93. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Charles is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Hausenfleck-Chavez; and son-in-law, Patrick Chavez, and sons, Eric and Michael Hausenfleck. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Kyera Chavez, Grace Hausenfleck, Ian Hausenfleck and Michael Patrick Hausenfleck.
Charles received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in 1954 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He completed pilot training in 1955 and was assigned to the 456th Fighter Interceptor squadron at Castle Air Force Base, California. In 1959 he earned his master's degree in metallurgical/nuclear engineering from the University of Utah. This was followed by assignments to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, McDill Air Force Base, Florida, Thailand, Viet Nam, the Pentagon, South Korea and Okinawa and Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Charles also attended and was a graduate of the National War College. He retired from the Air Force in 1983 as Vice Commander of the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center at Kirtland Air Force Base, ABQ. Following retirement, Charles worked for the Air Force and several university centers at the Base, as an adjunct professor in math and aviation technology.
A mass will be held Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd, NW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, January 29th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
