Charles Dunn Harmon, II ("Chuck")
April 16, 1969 - September 29, 2026
Charles Dunn Harmon, II, affectionately known to friends and family as "Chuck," passed away surrounded by his loving family in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on September 29, 2026, following complications from lymphoma treatment.
Chuck was born on April 16, 1969, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to Charles Dunn Harmon and Heather (Quimby) Harmon. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of New Mexico. An accomplished nuclear engineer, Chuck began his career at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission before devoting himself to national security at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. Throughout a distinguished 35-year career, Chuck dedicated his professional life to the service and protection of our nation. He served with integrity, discretion, and a commitment to safeguarding the nation he loved. His work was conducted quietly and without public recognition, but its importance and impact were undoubtedly significant. Chuck took great pride in a career defined by service, responsibility, and devotion.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chuck was a cherished pillar of his community, well known for his years coaching youth soccer and mentoring young athletes. In his personal time, he enjoyed playing soccer, working on cars, and took great pride in caring for his house and yard, finding genuine joy in hands-on projects around the home. Above all else, Chuck was a devoted family man whose life was defined by his faith in God and steadfast commitment to those he loved.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Michelle Harmon; his son Charlie and wife Ashlie Harmon; his daughter Kelsey Harmon; his brother Ian Harmon; his cherished grandchildren William, Hunter, and Violet (Charlie and Ashlie's children); and his parents Charles and Judy Harmon, and Heather (Quimby) Harmon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Church Albuquerque. Reception details will be announced during the service.
The family extends its deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, as well as the compassionate team at Roadrunner Hospice in Albuquerque, for their gentle care and support throughout Chuck's journey.
In reflecting on Chuck's life and faith, his family takes comfort in his favorite Bible verse, Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV):
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
